Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Duration: 30 hours (15 lessons x 2 hours)
Introduction to the business of design, marketplace analysis, and design practice communication. Students will become familiar with business trends in the local market and the practices and procedures in running their own design studios and art departments. Students will learn about the professional societies for designers and the responsibilities of practicing as a registered designer in their region.
This course is designed to lead students through the processes of recognizing the qualities and attributes contributing to successful entrepreneurship, identifying small business opportunities in the North American and European Union communitiies while developing a comprehensive business plan and self branding package.
The course will distinguish between types of businesses, examine small business marketing strategies, identify financing options, look at the legal ramifications of starting a small business, explore employment strategies and formulate a business plan and creating a marketing package for promoting their business.
